One of the many things that the Chinese smart phone manufacturers do well is cloning the popular high end smart phones which are new in the market and then sell them at really low prices. We have seen this happening with many smart phones till now, and we will see this happening in the future as well. But today, we have something interesting in the business of cloning, the all new HDC One. No, that is not a typo, which people usually gracefully point out, that is the new smart phone we are going to look at today.
The HDC One is a very close clone of the all new HTC One, and the similarities start right from the name of the company, and then the smart phone. Anyway, as you can see from the picture above, the smart phone is designed to look exactly like the real deal, the HTC One, but there are very tiny, subtle design changes, except for one which is very apparent. And that is the build material. While the real HTC One has a very classy aluminium chassis, the HDC One has gone for a cheaper alternative, which is plastic. But the quilt quality is not compromised.
Apart from that, the speaker grills, the power button, placement of the cameras, all are at their rightful places. But there is a lot of difference under the hood. The HTC One comes with a very powerful, and new Qualcomm 600 processor, but the HDC One comes with 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and accompanied by one giga bytes of RAM. The display is a good 720p HD display, compared to the 1080p of the HTC One. The HDC One has a good 8 MP camera at the back and a 2 MP front facing camera. And to power all this, there is small 1,700 mAh battery. And the smart phone will come with Android 4.2 installed out of the box.
HDC is going to make the smart phone available to the public on the 1st of May for $160. Interested?
