While it’s definitely an upgrade to the frist FamilyPad the specs of this model isn’t at par with what we expect for this year’s devices. It only comes with a dual core processor and one GB of RAM. Based on how the device is to be used, the hardware is just enough to provide a pleasant experience for the user.
This device will become quite popular with board game apps where up to 4 people can join in on the fun. Its 10 point multi-touch display allows for multiple inputs making it excellent for use in group game apps. It can also be used to view movies and with its expandable storage of up to 64 GB you can store dozens of HD movies in this device.
Archos is also planning to offer a free quick stand for every purchase of this device. This allows you to handle the device easily and makes it look like a TV set.
As far as pricing goes the FamilyPad 2 is expected to sell in Europe for €299 or roughly $389. The company has not set a release date and instead said in their website that this model will be released very soon.
