Remember the 10 inch gaming tablet shown by Wikipad a couple of months ago? It looks like the company is delaying that project and instead pushing to the market a smaller model first. The company has recently announced that they will be releasing sometime in the spring of this year a 7 inch Wikipad tablet that will cost $249.
This model will have mostly the same specifications as the bigger version such as the use of a Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB of storage, a micro SD slot, and running Google’s Android 4.1. What’s different though is the smaller screen size which makes the device cost less, be more portable and much sleeker.
The reason on why the sudden change in screen size is explained by Wikipad president of sales Fraser Townley. “We wanted to get Wikipad into our community’s hands and what we found was that the smaller 7″ form factor just seemed right. The smaller frame delivers an aggressive price while keeping the same amazing specs.”
The company will still be releasing the 10 inch model however it may come by the Christmas season of 2013 and may be powered by a Tegra 4 processor.

The device comes in an ultra-light and thin chassis with attachable dual analog controllers. Since it uses a Tegra processor it will have access to the Tegra Zone where games can be downloaded. The company also announced that the device is compatible with PlayStation Mobile and Big Fish games as they have counted them as partners.
The appearance of Android devices with physical controllers is due to most gamers desire to have an Android device that have this feature. It’s much easier to control a game with physical controls than virtual controls which eat up some of the screen space.
