Android 4.2 on Samsung Galaxy S III

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S III and have been waiting for the Android 4.2 update, then you would be happy to know that the South Korean smart phone giant is already working on it. Today we have a few leaked screen shots of the smart phone running Android 4.2 with the company’s Touch Wiz custom user interface on top of it. You can see all the major Android 4.2 features coming to the Galaxy S III pretty soon. And these features include the Daydream, lock screen widgets, the new notification area quick settings and toggles, and much more.

From the notification area toggles shown in the screenshot above, you can make out that there are just too many options that you can work with from just the notification area. And it would be more interesting if the company makes this user customizable.

We have only this for now. There are no rumors or information about when the company will be rolling out these updates to the users. The South Korean giant does have to deal with a lot of carriers before it can get this update right for all the Galaxy S IIIs out there. So it is supposed to take some time.

But if you are the kind of person who tinkers with his smart phone by rooting and stuff, you would have already got your hands on an Android 4.2 custom ROM sometime back. I have been using an Android 4.2.1 based custom ROM for more than two months now, and the ROM is just awesome. Good battery life, good features, and very stable vanilla Android experience. If you are interested, I am talking about the latest release of the Resurrection Remix custom ROM for the international Samsung Galaxy S III. Try it out from the XDA Developers forum if you are into this. If not, you will have to wait a bit longer for Samsung to release the update.
