The Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000) is the very first Android smartphone tablet hybrid device, otherwise known as a phablet, that was introduced last 2011. The release of this device started a whole new era of large screen devices that can be seen on various models today.

This model was originally released running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread then later got an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

We have just learned that Samsung has already pushed the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update to the International version of the original Galaxy Note (N7000). This brings in new life to a device that is almost two years old and makes it perform similarly to its successor which is the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The update is rolling out in phases so it might not be available in your country yet. The best way to check on this is to run Kies and see if an update to your device is available. If it isn’t available yet you can opt to manually update it yourself as long as you have a copy of the updated firmware.

If you are planning to do a manual update make sure to backup all important data first. This includes your apps, settings and photos. Make sure that your device is also fully charged.

The Jelly Bean update brings several enhancements to the Samsung Galaxy Note which includes

  • Android 4.1.2 – Build JZO54K
  • Buttery Smooth Performance & Great Stability (Thanks to Project Butter)
  • Multi-View (Multi Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
  • Multi-View can also be disabled
  • Page Buddy
  • Notification Panel can now be customized
  • New Additions in Notification Panel
  • Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
  • Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)
  • Samsung’s Cloud services
  • Features like Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play
  • New Widgets From the Galaxy S III
  • 2 Home screen modes
  • New Notifications bar
  • Google Now
