2013 is the year of flagship smartphones as with any year really. Right at the start of the year, we were treated to the Xperia Z by Sony which was sure to start a trend. Shortly after, we saw the iconic BlackBerry Z10 launch which also had a few bells and whistles of its own. However, the world is quite excited about what HTC and Samsung have to offer, because since the last couple of years, these companies have been fighting against each other for the top spot and Samsung has won on almost every occasion. However, there have been hopes that things could change with the arrival of the HTC One/M7 on the 19th of February.
We were recently treated to an image of the HTC One and it looked pretty convincing. Now we have hints coming from HTC as to what we might see during the February 19 event. The company didn’t manage to shed more light on what’s to come, but merely teased us with the date along with something which appears to be an edge of the new smartphone. In HTC’s official website (htc.com), there’s a dedicated countdown timer counting down to February 19. This tells us that HTC expects to wow us all with the big reveal next Tuesday. Along with the timer, there’s also a very short video showing off the handset with the HTC logo. The handset appears to be in white, which has been HTC’s favorite color of late. We’re guessing what’s being shown is the back portion of the smartphone. We would have liked to see a little more than just four seconds though, but since it’s merely six days away now, I guess it’s worth the wait. Either way, it’s something very intriguing and February 19 will certainly be marked on all my calendars. The Taiwanese manufacturer will hold the launch event in New York and London simultaneously.
The One or M7 could be a make or break thing for HTC. The reason we say this is because the company has hardly seen any success, so the company will have to come up with something major to impress us after what we’ve seen from Sony and LG so far. I guess the company’s goals aren’t too high as of now as Samsung will pretty much continue to dominate the market if history is any evidence. But HTC would desperately want to regain some of that marketshare back which is the need of the hour really. From what we know so far, the HTC One will feature a 4.7-inch Full HD display panel with a “Retina Display” besting pixel density. Also on board is said to be something known as the “ultrapixel” camera. A 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset is said to be on board as well. But most important of all, it’s the body and design that we’re eagerly looking forward to.
Check out the teaser yourself, but don’t blame us if you’re kept wanting for more.
