Super Hexagon is a unique game released by Terry Cavanaugh originally for the iOS platform last September 2012. Today, Android users will get a shot at playing this challenging game as it is now available for download at Google Play. To celebrate its Android appearance the game price has been slashed off by 66% for a limited time only which now makes it cost only $0.95.
Super Hexagon requires a device running on at least Android 2.2 and a storage space of 27 MB.
If it’s going to be the first time you play the game then chances are you will die after 5 seconds. Restarting the game will only repeat the process but then in a longer span of time. After 15 minutes of repeating this process you will be tempted to throw your smartphone and break it to pieces but then there’s also this urge to give it another try. The gameplay is a combination of addicting and frustrating.
The concept of the game is simple. You are in control of a triangle which you must navigate using the left and right arrow keys. As easy as the gameplay may sound it really isn’t and requires you to have good hand and eye coordination. As several layers of hexagonal walls moves in on you your task is to slip between the cracks of these walls and survive for 60 seconds. If your triangle hits the wall then you die. Adding difficulty to this is that while the walls advance in on you they also spin in a somewhat random fashion from clockwise to counterclockwise. This makes it harder for you to slip through the cracks. It gets even more challenging since the walls change in pulsating colors which distracts you.
There are three difficulty levels to choose from namely Hexagon, Hexagoner, and Hexagonest with the last one being the most difficult.
The graphics of the game is quite simple which is great since you don’t want to be distracted by too much detail on a game like this. The soundtrack is also pretty good very upbeat.
