Gameinformer is reporting that Skulls of the Shogun, 17-bit’s turn-based strategy game, has been given a final release date!
Skulls of the Shogun will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace starting January 30th for 1200 Microsoft Points. The game will also be making an appearance on Windows 8 / Surface for $14.99 and on Windows Phone for $6.99. It’s a bit unfortunate that we won’t be seeing a release on Steam like Hero Academy.
One of the more notable features of Skull of the Shogun is it’s cross-platform capabilities when it comes to asynchronous play for the singleplayer campaign. This will allow you to play the game anywhere on any device with no need to start the game over on each device you play it on. It’d be nice to see other games take on that idea. I often dread starting over my mobile games when I get a new device. It’s a grueling process.
While you’re waiting for January 30th to hit, you mine as well check out the brand new trailer for Skulls of Shogun! Make sure to watch it below, it’s full of comical turn-based awesomeness!
In the meantime, here’s a brand new trailer for the game.
Being an Android guru, I sincerely hope that 17-bit Games will consider porting Skulls of the Shogun to Android and maybe even iOS. They’re missing out on a huge market by limiting their game Windows Phone. Granted, that’s on the basis that they aren’t under a contract with Microsoft.
