Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update rolls out in the UK, India

True to its word, the South Korean manufacturer Samsung finally rolled out the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Note 10.1, otherwise known as Note 800, in the United Kingdom and India. The update, which reaches up to 480MB in size, can now be pulled down from the company’s servers over-the-air or via the Samsung KIES.

Owners in said regions should now be receiving notifications of the availability of the update. Due to its enormous size, owners are advised to secure better and faster Wi-Fi connection before downloading the package. The download process alone might reach up to 15 minutes depending on the connection, whereas, the update process will take just a few minutes to complete.

The roll out is done in batches so it may take a few more days before notifications pop up in your tablet. However, there are times that you have to manually initiate update search. Doing so is easy and definitely wouldn’t hurt. Here are some quick tips on how to initiate search for update on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1:

OTA Update

Step 1: Head to Settings => About tablet => Software update.

Step 2: Tap on Update and you will be prompted if you want to check for updates, choose OK.

Step 3: If there is an update available for your device, it will be displayed on the next prompt. Tap Download to begin the pull down.

Step 4: Once the download is complete, tap Install to automate installation of the new firmware.

Step 5: Reboot your tablet after installation.

Samsung KIES Update

Step 1: You need to download KIES client into your computer first [download it from here]. It is software that will automatically search for updates available for all Samsung devices. It would also install all necessary USB drivers to make your device detectable.

Step 2: When the download is done, run the application to begin installation in your computer.

Step 3: You may now connect your device to your computer using the USB data cable.
