RIM will be launching its all new platform, the BlackBerry 10, in little over a week of time. Apart from launching the new platform, the Canadian smartphone manufacturer is also going to launch two new BlackBerry 10 based devices. We have had a lot of rumors regarding the new platform and the new smartphones that are going to be launched, and now we have more leaks.
We already know that almost all major carriers are gearing up to offer the new devices from BlackBerry, and we have official words from Verizon as follows:
Verizon’s chief executive Lowell McAdam told the Reuters news agency: “We’re hopeful it’s going to be a good device,” and hedged on the side of caution, he said that Verizon will carry the new BlackBerry 10 platform.
Now we have a screenshot of the page where Verizon is offering the BlackBerry Z10 in white and black variants. The image originated on EvLeaks, which posted the product page on twitter. Previously, EvLeaks has contributed to a lot of leaks regarding several upcoming devices, and most of them have been right, and hence it would be apt to conclude that it is a trustable source. RIM hasn’t officially announced the names of the upcoming devices, but all the leaks until now have been referring the two new devices as BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry X10. The Z10 is a full touch device, whereas the X10 comes with a QWERTY keyboard. The leaked image has Verizon’s product page displaying the device’s name as Z10, which further makes us believe that Z10 and X10 aren’t internal codenames, but the actual product names using which the company is going to market the devices.
The image doesn’t reveal much information about the device itself. It just includes the image of the Z10 smartphone and “coming soon” tagline, so most probably the page was supposed to be up after the press conference that is going to be held on 30th of this month. There are no details on the specifications or price.
While we already have extensive information on Z10 and some information on X10, a spec sheet of BlackBerry 10 L-Series device surfaced. This spec sheet revealed that an L-Series touchscreen BlackBerry phone would feature a 4.2-inch display with a 1280 x 768 pixel HD resolution. It will supposedly come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 1,800mAh battery, according to TechRadar.
There’s no other information about any L series phone coming from BlackBerry, so most probably this device will be launched sometime later in the future. We already know that RIM is planning to launch six new BB10 devices this year, of which two will be launched this month. The remaining four will be launched at subsequent months and will serve various other segments. RIM will most probably launch a mid range device later this year.
RIM remains tight-lipped until the end of the month concerning its upcoming mobile platform. Are you planning to buy the Z10 or X10? Let us know!
