With all the Samsung and the HTC smartphones surrounding the mobile market, we often tend to look over little known mobile manufacturers. And we can’t blame anybody for that as these small companies simply don’t have the resources for a global launch. One such company is Pantech which is known for the widely popular budget 4G LTE phone, the Pantech Burst on AT&T. The company has sufficient presence in the American market and it has managed to win tons of fans as well. The company just announced the Pantech Discover on the floors of CES yesterday, which managed to grab the visitors’ attention.

And now, a new leak surfacing over the internet has revealed another Pantech droid, but this time bearing Verizon branding. It is believed that this smartphone which will be known as the Pantech Perception is Verizon’s variant of the AT&T Pantech Discover which was launched at CES earlier. This leak comes courtesy of the very reliable @evleaks, so we can make sure that the info is reliable. What makes it better is the fact that we have some specs and a picture of the device to go with.

The leaked specs sheet suggests that the Pantech Perception follows in the footsteps of the AT&T variant, with its HD display and the standard array of hardware specs usually associated with Android smartphones. However, this is no game changing smartphone. As we currently live in the Full HD 1080p display era, anything short of that will immediately put the device in the mid-range tier. The Perception apparently comes with a 4.8-inch HD display, a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 chip and has 1GB of RAM to handle multi-tasking with ease.

There’s absolutely no information on the price or the release date of this new droid by Pantech, but we believe Verizon will shed more light on all that when it inevitably launches the smartphone. Let’s hope we get to see the device in action sooner rather than later. We are quite eager to see if the Pantech Perception will also carry that explosive 12.1MP camera sensor on the back and the $49.99 contract pricing of AT&T’s Pantech Discover. More details are awaited. For now, all we can do is drool over the budget friendliness of this device and expect more info from Verizon. It would have been ideal if the device arrived at CES along with the Pantech Discover, but it seems like Verizon doesn’t want to grab too much attention for its budget droid. The device will be 4G LTE of course, which is key for a budget smartphone.
