We don’t know a lot about LG’s plans and aspirations in the mobile world, but I guess the company is following in the footsteps of its competitors. In the low end and mid-ranged market segments however, companies like LG and Samsung pretty much dictate terms. LG makes most of its business with mid-ranged devices, although the trend has slightly changed since it launched smartphones like the Optimus G and the Nexus 4 back in fall last year, with the latter facing some availability issues which is hoped to be fixed soon. And now the company’s upcoming new droid named the LG Optimus L7 II Dual has leaked. Some convincing looking press shots of the smartphone are available along with some specs to go along with it. It seems like this is the direct successor to the original Optimus L7 which broke cover at last year’s MWC event. This one too is all geared up for an MWC 2013 announcement, but it’s good that we know of the device beforehand so that we have one less mid-ranged smartphone to be excited about. The leak originates from Russia, where the device will be launched in the second half of February apparently.
The Optimus L7 II Dual is said to feature a 4.3-inch IPS panel, a 1 GHz dual core processor, a hefty 2,460 mAh battery pack, an 8MP camera sensor and Android 4.1 completing the formalities. And yes, the highlight of the smartphone as you would have made out from the images is that it can handle two SIM cards at once. The look of the phone is pretty similar to a lot of other phones out there. What’s clearly noticeable though is the fourth capacitive button on the bottom which we presume is to swap between SIM cards or something. The smartphone will be sold in white and black color variants. It’s a pretty decent setup for a mid-ranged device and LG almost never goes wrong with such offerings.
It goes without saying that this is not the only LG mid-ranged droid that will be on offer at the MWC event. More importantly though, we should see the 5.5-inch Full HD smartphone a.k.a the Optimus G Pro unveiled at the MWC event. The smartphone was launched in Korea earlier this month. The Optimus L7 II Dual is said to be priced at 12,990 Rubles in Russia which is close to $433. That’s not a bad price for a phone with an IPS panel and a dual core processor, but LG’s marketing will be key here. As this is still a leak, there’s not much info to go with. But having learnt so much about the device, I don’t think we would need to know anything else. Let’s hope LG manages to wow us during the MWC event with its offering, and yes we’re still talking about the Optimus G Pro.
