Windows Phone 8 is doing great. We have the flagship Windows Phone 8 device from Nokia, the Lumia 920, and it’s supposedly the best Windows Phone 8 device you can buy right now. It has got the coolest camera and the build quality is just amazing, but what sucks is the fact that it is an AT&T exclusive model. AT&T and Nokia have exclusivity deal for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, which means you cannot buy these two devices from any other carriers apart from AT&T.
Lumia 920 is priced at $99 on a 2 year contract, and that has got to be one of the reasons why Windows Phone 8 devices are doing so well. You can upgrade to a Lumia 920 without digging a hole in your pocket, and if you are clever, you will be able to grab it for even lesser from various other resellers. Lumia 920 will of course be offered by other carriers at some point in time, but that’s going to happen only when the deal in place expires. If you’re a Verizon customer and want to go the Windows Phone 8 way, you can either go for Nokia Lumia 822 or HTC Windows Phone 8X. The Lumia 822 is an Verizon exclusive Windows Phone 8 device, and as the name suggests, it is indeed a variant of Lumia 820 made for Verizon, and as we all know, Lumia 820 is a mid range device. Windows Phone 8X device from HTC is a good choice if you want to go for a high end device, and apparently HTC 8X is doing very well in US, and that’s due to the fact that three out of four major carriers are offering the device, which means the device can cater more customers than Lumia 920 can do alone. It should be noted that HTC 8X hasn’t topped charts at any single carrier.
Those who don’t want to go for HTC 8X, Verizon may have a good news for you folks. Something is brewing and it’s good. A tweet from The Verge’s Tom Warren, whose beat happens to be Microsoft, says that “If you’re on Verizon and you want a high-end Nokia Lumia. You’re gonna be happy soon.” The tweet is talking about a high end Nokia Lumia making its way to Verizon. That’s definitely a good news, but the tweet doesn’t suggest any specific model, so it could be Nokia Lumia 920 or may be something similar. Nokia is looking to sell as many devices as it can because the company obviously isn’t doing great financially. I wouldn’t be surprised if they manufacture an exclusive variant of the Lumia 920 just for Verizon, just like what they did with Lumia 822.
Whatever the case is, it is going to be a high end Lumia. Lumia 920 has been doing great overseas, and the device was greeted with long lines in China not once, but twice. How many of you guys are craving for high end Lumia on Verizon? Let us know!
