LG has been on the airwaves of late for the competition it has been giving Samsung and other market leaders in the Android smartphone market. The fight for the mid-range market is heating up, and the latest news is the introduction of the LG Spirit Android smartphone on the MetroPCs carrier. This is a 4.5 incher targeting average users who need a smartphone either for daily personal use making calls and accessing the internet or need to make use of the thousands of apps on Google Play Store for business or pleasure.
If you are on MetroPCs and are looking for a phone with decent specs but a low price, this $199 is certainly for you. With the launch of the Spirit 4G smartphone, MetroPCs has solidified its commitment to expanding its 4G LTE network with unbeatable deals without tying subscribers down with contracts. The Spirit 4G smartphone features a 4.5 inch 960 x 540 pixels resolution screen with Corning Glass Gorilla to beautifully and crisply display images, text and videos while boosting resistance to scratches. The core specs include a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a 5 megapixels rear camera with the capability to take full high definition 1080p video and comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating System out-of-the-box.
What you may already know about MetroPCs is that it beats most other carriers in the US when it comes to plans and deals – especially prepaid wireless plans and tariffs. Their wide selection of Android smartphones has particularly boosted the company and especially because they cover all the bases and provide plans and phones for all kinds of users. If you want something better than the Spirit 4G, perhaps something high end with better specs, you may consider getting the Galaxy S3 for $499, Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G for $459 or LG Esteem 4G. If you want a basic budget phone at the lowest prices, consider LG Motion 4G for $49, Huawei M835 tokidoki Edition for $69 or Samsung Galaxy Admire 4G for $99.
Although MetroPCs does not come to the top 3 carrier list in the US, it is gathering fans as it offers the best deals and is providing for all kinds of users. With the launch of the LG Spirit 4G, the company will let in mi-range users who may be interested in some of their plans listed on their site and especially since the company is striving to cover the entire country with 4G LTE high speed connectivity. This new budget friendly phone couldn’t have come at a better time – in January after the December holidays. Compared to most other phones in its category, the 4.5 incher dual core phone is fashionably large and cheaper and is perfect for use by average users who only text and call as well as users who play games and multimedia.
The downsides to this phone though are that the screen resolution, though decent, could have been better. Maybe this is why MetroPCs did not mention the screen resolution in their press release. Another issue is that the phone comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which by now is old considering that Jelly Bean launched way back last year and there is no mention as to whether there will be an upgrade soon, or ever. Jelly Bean is cool, and I wish the phone came with it, but Ice Cream Sandwich should not be a deal breaker for buyers who know what they want.
