It is a busy month for Chinese smartphone makers as they announce and release one handset after another. Lately, we have been seeing the Oppo Find 5, Vivo X1 and UMI X2 make tech headlines. Now comes another handset from ZTE that has been grabbing some attention for its specifications.
The smartphone is the Nubia Z5, ZTE’s next flagship phone that it will be unveiling this coming Friday, December 21. It is expected to hit stores on Christmas Day. It will retail at around 2,500 yuan or around $400. This makes it less expensive than the Oppo Find 5 by about
It comes with a Qualcomm 8064 quad-core processor running at 1.5GHz. Meanwhile, its RAM has a size of 2GB. Its capacitive multi-touch display, for its part, measures 5 inches diagonally. It boasts of a High Definition resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. Softpedia notes that the display even beats the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Apple iPhone 4S in terms of how crisp and clear the images on it appear. Also onboard are 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Out of the box, the Nubia Z5 runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is also equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing CMOS camera, which features Autofocus and LED Flash. It is still unclear at this point if this camera has the same Sony Exmor Pro image sensor found on the Oppo Find 5. Meanwhile, the rear-facing camera is complemented by a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Dual speakers allow for some entertainment while a 2,500 mAh built-in battery provides usage for an unspecified number of hours.
It also has an “Italian design” that comes with a unibody chassis. In other words, owners of the smartphone will not be able to replace its internal memory and battery. Said casing measures only 7.66 mm, which is also the measurement of the iPhone 5.
