Technological advances in the mobile industry is increasing by leaps and bounds that every several months we get to see new smartphone models with unique features. Mobile manufacturers always have a signature model which they make as their flagship device and Samsung currently has the Galaxy S3. This was unveiled in May 2012 and has since then sold more than 30 million units making it the company’s bestselling smartphone so far.
Now that the year is almost ending a lot of people are eagerly anticipating the next flagship model of Samsung which will be the Samsung Galaxy S4 and expected to be released next year. Although no official details are released by the company yet we do have some information regarding this device.
Here’s what we have gathered so far on the Samsung Galaxy S4
The upcoming flagship model will sport a 5 inch Super LCD 3 display that has a very impressive 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (445ppi) and will be coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. This is way better than what the Samsung Galaxy S3 is using which is a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display with 720×1280 pixels (306 ppi). It is also even better than what Apple’s iPhone 5 is using which is a 4 inch display with 640 x 1136 pixels (325ppi) and coated with Corning Gorilla Glass.
While a lot of people would want to see this device use the new flexible display it appears that we won’t be seeing this new technology on the Samsung Galaxy S4. The South Korean company has reportedly said that it will not be using the flexible display on the S4.
The device is rumored to use a 13 MP camera sensor. This is a considerable increase from the 8 MP used by the S3 and the iPhone 5.
Here’s where we are getting conflicting reports. The main speculation is that this device will be using a 2 GHz quad core Cortex-A15 processor other people however say it may use an 8 core processor making it the first device in the world to use it. The current flagship model of the company uses a quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 while the iPhone 5 uses a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor.
The device is said to come with 2 GB of RAM which will give you that needed speed when multi-tasking between several applications.
It will definitely come with support for 4G LTE and NFC. What still don’t know if it will be running on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
Samsung has hinted that they will be making the official announcement of the S4 in the upcoming Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona, Spain this coming February 25-28 2013.
The speculated specifications are already pretty impressive to us. What we do want though is for this device to have an excellent battery life. If Samsung could make this device last a whole day of normal usage without needing a recharge then we’re sold to it.
