Two Galaxy devices that were originally just rumors have taken a step towards reality, as both devices have had their specs and pictures leaked. Both devices will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and will be identical to other Galaxy smartphone designs.
The Samsung Galaxy S II Plus (I9105) is simply a rehash of the Samsung Galaxy S II. It will feature the exact same WVGA 4.3-inch display, a 8-megapixel shooter, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and other connectivity features. Keep in mind that this is by far not the first time that Samsung has released a rehash of previous devices. A good example of this is the Galaxy S vs the Galaxy S Plus. Now, will we see anything new in the Galaxy S II Plus? Most definitely, albeit it probably won’t be mind-blowing. If anything, we’ll be seeing a bigger battery or a slight increase in CPU speed.
The other device, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos (GT-I9082) touts a 4.5-inch 480 x 800 display, a 8-megapixel shooter and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Based off of how the device was named “Duos,” it is only expected that this device is a dual-SIM device.
There has not been any mention as to when these two devices will go on sale. It’s highly possible that we’ll see these two smartphones head to the Chinese market before anyone else though. I doubt it will be exclusive to the Chinese market simply because of the Galaxy S II Plus being a rehash of the Galaxy S II. It is expected that former Galaxy S II owners would be able to grab the Plus in countries where the Galaxy S II is available. Albeit, I have no idea why you would grab a S II Plus when you can grab a Galaxy S III!
Hopefully we’ll be seeing an official announcement in the near future.
