Nokia launched two new Windows Phone 8 devices, namely the Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820. Both are pretty good and have the capability and feel to go against other popular devices in the arena, such as Apple’s iPhone 5. The two devices are already up for sale via AT&T in the U.S., but there are not much known about the launch in the U.K.
The launch date of the flagship Lumia 920 and the slightly lower model, the Lumia 820, have been subject to speculation. The Lumia 920, being a high end flagship model of Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 lineup, it is an exclusive model from AT&T in the USA. Similar to AT&T, EE in UK have an exclusivity deal for Lumia 920 in the country, but nobody is stopping you from buying a SIM-free unlocked version, and that’s where Clove, an UK based smartphone vendor, steps in. According to a recent announcement made by Clove, they will be receiving SIM-free stock of the Nokia Lumia 920 White, and yes, it’s for sale. The device will be priced at £433.33 (£520.00 inc VAT).
The price tag of £520 is pretty costly, but you will have the pleasure of buying a SIM-free and unlocked Lumia 920. Buying an unlocked device has its own advantages, with the first being that you don’t have to sign any contract, which means you can change the device whenever you wish, but this advantage comes at a price, and in this case it’s £520.
This is the very first stock of the Nokia Lumia 920 that is arriving at Clove Technology and it will also be the first Windows Phone that sports LTE capabilities. Later lots will contain other colors of the device. The Lumia 920 is being marketed as a 4G LTE capable device. The hardware is of course compatible with 4G LTE, but the only UK carrier offering 4G LTE service is EE, which is an alliance between T-Mobile and Orange, and like I said before, EE has an exclusivity deal for Lumia 920 and they will soon start selling the device. If you have been tracking news about Lumia 920 and 820 in the US, the devices are available for just $99.99 and $49.99 from AT&T along with two year contract, and other vendors such as Best Buy are selling the Lumia 920 for $49.99 and Lumia 820 for free, so if you don’t mind waiting for a bit long, you will be able to lay your hands on the device at a relatively cheaper price, but with a contract.
Below are the some of the features Lumia 920 has to offer:
Windows Phone 8 Operating System
Wireless charging using Qi wireless power standard
8.7 Megapixel ‘Pureview’ Camera
4.5” ‘Pure Motion HD ’ display
1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual core processor
One-piece Polycarbonite body
Nokia City Lens augmented reality
Super Sensitive Touch
32GB Internal Storage
We’re not sure if Clove will be offering free wireless charging pad, but most probably they aren’t going to. What are your thoughts on this?
