If you are a fan of Android or Samsung, I am certain you haven’t forgotten the revolutionary Android camera announced by Samsung back in August, the Samsung Galaxy Camera. Well, the Android powered camera is now coming to the market after two months of waiting – and the Britons will be the first to get it.
Samsung announced that it will be launching the Galaxy camera across the UK on November 8th but those who cannot wait may get it from Samsung-branded stores a day earlier on November 7th from 5pm. These stores include Carphone Warehouse, Clove, Jessops and Phones4U. If you remember well, the Galaxy camera was the first of its kind to become realistic besides the Nikon announced the Coolpix S800, the only other Android camera in the market.
According to Simon Stanford, the Vice President of Telecommunications & Networks Division, Samsung UK and Ireland, Samsung is overwhelmed by the amazing response the Galaxy camera has received from the people and they look forward to delivering a whole new type of digital photography experience through this new camera. “The Galaxy Camera is a fantastic example of our continued passion for innovation and we are excited to be evolving our Galaxy range even further.” He added.
The press release released by the company touts the new camera as proof of the company’s “continued passion for innovation” and their excitement to evolve their Galaxy range of devices even further. At the moment, the galaxy range of devices include smartphones, phablet, tablets and lately the Galaxy camera.
The Samsung Galaxy camera boasts of a 21x optical zoom lens, runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and has 3G network connectivity capabilities for users to easily and conveniently upload photos and videos to social sites, email and save on the cloud without the need of transferring to a computer first. The camera also features a 16 megapixels 1/2.3” BSI CMOS sensor which makes the camera capture pictures in dazzling resolution and color – including wide-angle shots. The camera has a vivid display too – a 121.2mm HD Super Clear Touch Display to view photos and applications on. However, despite all these amazing features, the camera has only 8 GB memory which to me is minimal considering the size of photos and videos it will be taking.
Generally, this is more than a camera – remember how phones came and before we knew it there were phones with cameras? Well, there were cameras and now with the galaxy camera we see a camera with features of a phone – you can even play games and send emails from. The press release did not mention whether or when the camera will be coming to the US but what we already know is that it will be coming to AT&T. We can only speculate the price between $399 and $499.
We just have to wait for now, most of us hope that it will be available before the start of the holiday season.
