Just yesterday, Verizon Wireless sent out a tweet with a link to the DroidDoes website which announces that the carrier will be officially unveiling the rumored DROID DNA smartphone through a Google Hangout next Monday on November 19th at 12:00PM EST. Keep in mind that the DROID DNA will also be shown off to the press at Verizon’s and HTC’s event on Tuesday morning in New York City. Hopefully the details on this smartphone can back up all of the excitement it is getting thus far. Everything about the Droid DNA has already been leaked on every corner of the internet, but hopefully when the smartphone itself is unveiled, it can live up to all of the hype. Although, the DROID DNA is basically the J Butterfly, which was a smartphone that was announced just a few weeks ago for the Japanese market. Of course, there are some differences between the two phones, but you can definitely see some similarities between the two HTC-manufactured smartphones.
At this current moment, the Droid DNA should have a Super LCD 3 display along with 1080p 1920 x 1080 resolution with 440 ppi. If that isn’t enough to get you drooling, the Droid DNA will also tout a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GBs of internal storage, microSD, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, waterproof, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC (Near Field Communication) all on top of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The HTC DROID DNA will supposedly be weighing in at 9mm thick, which is extremely slim and impressive for what this bad boy is packing. The only real problem that I foresee with this smartphone is the battery. The J Butterfly has a 2050mAh battery, but the DROID DNA needs something larger for one reason. The reason is that the display is going to be taking a huge toll on the battery life. Seeing something a little larger inside the DROID DNA will be a huge relief.
Nevertheless, we can speculate all we want, but we will get a lot more details on the HTC DROID DNA on November 13th (tomorrow) when Verizon and HTC get together at their event in New York City. Although, I am not entirely sure that they will be unveiling the DROID DNA tomorrow at the event as Verizon earlier stated that they would be officially unveiling the device on November 19th through a Google Hangout. I guess we are just going to have to find out what will officially be at the event tomorrow.
Hopefully the DROID DNA will be HTC’s way of getting back on their feet income wise. As you know, they haven’t been doing so well lately, and were expecting worse results as they entered into 2013. I have my doubts, but lets just hope that this will help them breakthrough 2013.
Are you going to be getting an HTC DROID DNA when they official release the device, or are you more keen on getting the HTC One X+? Both are great devices thus far. Sound off in the comments below!
