Samsung Galaxy S III is Phone of the Year at Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2012

The Samsung Galaxy S III Smartphone has been awarded Phone of the Year during the recently-concluded Mobile Choice Consumer Awards 2012 in London. Apple’s iPhone 4S was the runner-up to Samsung’s flagship phone of 2012.

It is important to note, however, that the iPhone 5 was not included among the choices for Phone of the Year as the voting for the awards was done last August, prior to the launch of Apple’s latest handset. The other contenders for the Phone of the Year title were the HTC One X, the Nokia Lumia 800, and the Sony Xperia S.

Apple, however, beat Samsung in the Tablet of the Year category with Apple’s New iPad. The runner-up in this category is the Nexus 7 tablet by Asus and Google. Other nominees were the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and the Sony Tablet S.

Samsung was likewise awarded as Manufacturer of the Year, while Sony is the runner-up. Asus, HTC, and Nokia were also nominated.

In the Most Innovative Device category, the Samsung Galaxy Note took the top spot, followed by the Nokia 808 PureView. These devices bested the Apple iPhone 4S, the HTC One X, and the Sony PlayStation Vita.

The Nokia Lumia 800 won in the Best Design Category, with the Sony Xperia U as the runner-up. Other nominees were the BlackBerry Porsche P’9981, HTC One S, and Motorola RAZR Maxx.

Other winners include the Sony Xperia U as the Best Value Phone, with the Huawei Ascend G300 as the runner up; the Nokia 808 PureView as the Best Camera Phone, with the Samsung Galaxy S III in second place; and the HTC One X as the Best Video Phone, beating the Samsung Galaxy S III for the top spot. The Samsung Galaxy S III is also recognized as the Best Media Phone, with the HTC One X as the runner up; and the HTC One X as the Best Handset for Social Networking, with the Nokia Lumia 800 in the second position. Jabra SPORT was also awarded as the Best Bluetooth Headset, with the Jaybird Freedom Headphones as its runner-up.

Phone retailers and carriers were likewise awarded. was chosen as the Best Online Retailer; Three as the Best High St Retailer; Vodafone as the Best Network and Best In Store Customer Experience. Lastly O2 was awarded for having the Best Customer Care.
