Think the hottest news on Samsung for the next couple of weeks will be the announcement of the S3 Mini? Well, you are wrong. Barely a day after the announcement of the Galaxy S3 mini, rumors surfaced on the internet that Samsung may be working on a new smartphone dubbed the Samsung galaxy Premier. From what I gather online, this phone will have specs better than those of the Samsung Galaxy nexus but lesser than those of the S3.
The leaked specs also show that the Galaxy premier, which looks a lot like the S3, will come out-of-the-box with Android Jelly Bean and will be powered by a quad-core Exynos processor, the same one that runs the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note II. However, it will not be a quad-core processor as in the case with those two, it will be a dual-core. The rumored device is said to have the same 4.65 inch HD Super-AMOLED screen that the galaxy Nexus has and the same resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.
Earlier, there were rumors that Samsung was working on a Galaxy Nexus 2 phone aka Samsung galaxy GT-I9260 but it turns out it wasn’t a nexus but the Premier. With its 8 megapixels rear camera and standard features that all Samsung phones come with these days including 4G LTE, NFC, GPS, DLNA and Bluetooth 4.0, this smartphone looks like it will be rakked among the high performance smartphones in the market at the moment. I should also point out that it is rumored to come with the option of 16 or 32GB onboard memory and a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
If the Samsung Galaxy Premier is real, then Samsung is likely to launch it in Germany towards the end of the year, most likely just before the holiday season. Unfortunately, due to the phone’s inability to work with HSDPA (HSPA), HSUPA and 4G LTE, it will most likely not come to the US market. The big question is, could Samsung go through the trouble of making one designed for the use Market? One with 4G and every ‘standard’ connectivity specification all US-destined Smartphones come with?
We have no idea what the battery of the new phone will be, and neither do we know when, if ever, the phone will be released. As a matter of fact, we can only speculate whether this is the Nexus 2 or not, so for now we just have to look out for more reliable rumors or news from Samsung.
