In an interview with MTV, the President of the United State of America said Facebook is not a good place to hang out as a teenager.
“I’d worry about Facebook right now. I know the folks at Facebook — obviously they’ve revolutionized, you know, the social networks. But Malia, because she’s well known, I’m very keen on her protecting her privacy,” said Obama in an interview with Yahoo.com.
Obama admitted his daughter Malia doesn’t even have a Facebook page and even discouraged him to mingle with strangers on the popular social networking site because of security reasons.
“She can make her own decisions obviously later as she gets older, but right now, even just for security reasons, she doesn’t have a Facebook page,” said Obama.
The President said dating with someone is fine as long as his daughter would date someone with great sense of respect.
“Dates, that’s fine, ’cause she’s got Secret Service protection,” Obama told Yahoo.com “Obama said he hoped his girls would date “boys who respect them and value them and understand their worth.”
In an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer last year, Michelle Obama said she does not encourage her children – Malia and Sasha – to spend time on social networking site like Facebook and that’s even their dad wasn’t the president.
“I’m not a big fan of young kids having Facebook…you know, it’s not something they need,” said the first lady, who said they are grateful of some limitations on their kids like Secret Service
“We’re lucky that there are a lot of real constraints like Secret Service and stuff like that,” said Obama.
