If you have bought the new Apple iPhone 5 with the new iOS 6 running on it, you would be one of the happiest people on earth, for some reason. And if you are the kind of person who wants or likes to extract the most out of your devices, then you would want to jailbreak your new iPhone 5 and install a lot of apps from the Cydia and increase your smart phone’s productivity. But for now, this seems like a dream.
Pod2g says that right now, there are no untethered jailbreak solutions for the new iOS 6 on the new iPhone 5. You only have tethered jailbreak which was achieved just a few hours after the release of the new operating system. JailbreakCon 2012 had this topic as one of the major discussions.
There are a few images posted online on many blogs for a few days which show an iPhone 5 jailbroken, running the Cydia app store, as can be seen in the image shown above. This is apparently called a “failbreak” device, and is available only for developers. So, your plans of jailbreaking your new iPhone 5 will remain a plan for a while. The failbreak version of the iPhone 5 is not available for public, so you can forget about buying that as well.
So, if you want a jailbroken iPhone at any cost, you will need to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1 only. Or, on the other hand, you can wait for a few more months till the developers, who are for sure busy at the work, come out with an untethered solution for jailbreaking the iPhone 5.
If you are still not sure if you want to jailbreak your iPhone or not, that is personal to you. But the merits and demerits of jailbreaking are a completely different discussion.
