We have heard rumors that Verizon would be introducing a new variant of the DROID branded smart phones, which would be called the DIX or the DLX. And the rumors also said that this could be a higher version variant of the HTC One X. But now that HTC has officially unveiled the HTC J Butterfly in Japan, the DROID Incredible DLX is expected to be a variant of this smart phone, which for sure is one powerful beast.
Phandroid reports that one of its sources has been able to get some hands on with the device and that the source was able to get some specs out of the device. To begin with, the smart phone will be called the DLX, not the DIX. The DLX is the abbreviated form of the word “Deluxe,” which obviously means that the smart phone will be a premium high end smart phone. So yes, you can expect a quad core powered smart phone from the Big Red very soon.
The source who has tipped Phandroid has said that the smart phone looks and seems very similar to the HTC J Butterfly. The smart phone is expected to come with a 4.7 inch or a 5 inch display. The source has said that this DROID Incredible DLX would have a 13 mega pixel camera which would be capable of shooting 1080p videos. But some other reports have said that the DLX would carry the same 8 mega pixel shooter from the J Butterfly. So we are still not sure about this.
Also, the smart phone is expected to be featuring a 1.5 GHz quad core processor, which would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Pro, but even this is not confirmed by the online publication’s source. The Big Red is said to have the smart phone exclusive to itself for a period of 6 months, which is a bit surprising that HTC would agree to such a thing. But the Taiwanese smart phone is expected to release similar products to other carriers in the country to compensate for that.
