Archos Expands Tablet Lineup with Arnova FamilyPad

Archos is offering a new tablet device called the Arnova FamilyPad, according to the Facebook page of Archos Slovenia.

It may be recalled that the same tablet made an appearance at the Federal Communications Commission website last August. The listing revealed that the tablet will be packed with two USB ports, a headphones jack, and an SD card slot for expansion. Said listing, however, did not provide many details about the tablet’s hardware, save for the 1 GHz Allwinner A10 ARM Cortex-A8 single core processor on which the tablet will be running.

Now, thanks to the Facebook post, consumers who are interested in the product now have a clearer idea of what to expect when the device finally rolls out.

The Arnova FamilyPad, which looks like it is designed for sharing, is packed with a 13.3-inch display. The tablet will have a 1280 x 800 pixel display resolution, although earlier, it had been said that some of its models will come with a display bearing a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels.

The tablet will also be equipped with 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, and a mini HDMI port for using the tablet with a larger display. Moreover, the tablet will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as its operating system. It will be fuelled by a 10,500mAh battery that will allow its users to enjoy 5 to 6 hours of Internet browsing, or as much as 8 to 10 hours of video playback. Both of its cameras will have 2-megapixel image sensors. The tablet also features stereo speakers plus a built-in microphone to make entertainment and communication using the tablet easier.

The tablet will be released this coming December, and is expected to retail at 299 Euros.

Archos Slovenia has announced that the company will reveal more information regarding the Arnova FamilyPad towards the end of this month.
