Amazon Kindle Fire HD Deemed Best Selling On Amazon, Receives OTA Update In Celebration

Amazon has just announced that their brand new Kindle Fire HD tablet has just become its best selling product since its launch date. The company did not mention any specific number of sales since the announcement, but Amazon did unveil that a new and fresh OTA (Over the Air) update would be arriving to the tablet soon, bringing a all new feature that has been dubbed as “FreeTime.” This new FreeTime feature will allow parents to restrict their child’s access to certain and specific applications, which will allow for complete control over the amount of usage from a parents child. Parents will be able to create a specific list of restricted applications, along with a time limit on applications that have no been restricted. With the Kindle Fire being such a popular tablet among families, you can imagine that this could and will be a huge benefit for those families. Not only that, but this may even encourage other families to jump in on the Kindle Fire bandwagon.

The Kindle Fire HD has definitely proven itself to be an extremely major competitor in the inexpensive tablet market, not only that, but it continues to prove itself in that area. Although, we might be seeing the release of a 10 inch Nexus tablet, it is quite hard to actually recommend a purchase like that to really anyone just due to how inexpensive the Kindle Fire HD is, and the amount of helpful features it boasts of. On top of all of that, the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD will be hitting the market on November 29th, so if you are looking to purchase one of these Kindle Fire tablets, you may just want to wait until that debuts. You can pre-order the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ for $299 right now on — you guessed it — Amazon!

There aren’t tons of new features in the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, but there are a few really cool ones, such as the extra power and extremely better display than the smaller Kindle Fire HD. It is important to note that the cheaper version of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ includes ads on your lock screen, but you can get rid of that by paying an extra one time fee of $15. To me, getting rid of these ads would improve the overall experience, but I do see why Amazon sees them as necessary. They are losing money on this tablet to make it one of the cheapest you can purchase, so as you can imagine, they would want to earn that back through selling other products via adds on their tablets. Of course, whether you like that or not, it does work very well for them.

If you want to check out a bit more on Amazon’s announcement, you can head on over to Talk Android for the full press release, or just take a look at some of the more important excerpts I have posted below this article. I do suggest taking a look, there is definitely some interesting stuff there!
