It is very possible that a new variant of Google’s Nexus 7 tablet with a whopping 32GBs of storage, and could be launching extremely early, possibly even this week in the United Kingdom, according to a few reports. The UK based tech site, ITProPortal says that it has heard via retail sources that the new 32GB Nexus 7 will be appearing very shortly in a new Christmas gift guide catalog chain Argos, and will be priced at a mere £199.99 for this extremely powerful tablet device. The website has reported that the 32GB version will actually be replacing the 16GB version at the price point, and then the 8GB model of the Nexus 7 will continue to be sold at its current £159 price. I really wish we could just see a variant of the model come with an SD card slot, that would literally solve a lot of the problems people have with it.
There has been a rumored 32GB Nexus 7 floating around the internet for several weeks now, and we’ve even seen a model that had been accidentally shipped to a Japanese buyer in place of a 16GB unit he ordered (he was surely ecstatic). If the rumors are accurate, the additional storage is surely to address one of the major complaints that was made against the 8GB Nexus 7 — just under 6GBs of storage was available for use, and the rest set aside for the operating system. Again, I think Google may have messed up here by not including the addition of an SD card. That would really make this Nexus 7 a huge hit, and has actually been the reason why many people haven’t bought it just yet. From what we know now, there won’t be an SD card slot, which is unfortunate, as there were a lot of people waiting on that.
As you can imagine, it is also entirely possible that Argos is jumping the gun on a 32GB Nexus 7 in its upcoming catalog. Still, there is a high possibility that more Nexus announcements are going to be made later this month, so an upgraded 32GB Nexus 7 is entirely a possibility. Oh, and since the Japanese guy who received a 32GB Nexus 7 as opposed to his 16GB Nexus 7 he ordered, and is running in perfect condition, we know that it is available, and it is probably ready for a green light. That said, I really think that we will be seeing this on shelves extremely soon. Soon, of course, is quite vague, but since we know it is there, and that it is running well, I can only imagine that unless they are trying to fit in a SD card slot, this beast is ready to go. Honestly, it’s the only thing that makes logical sense at this point, and with the new Amazon and Nook tablets, Google has to make sure they are secured for this upcoming holiday season, right?
What do you think about all of these rumors? Do you think that we could be seeing it very soon, or are people just jumping the gun way to early?
