We’ve seen many existing quad core handsets boasts of an Exynos or Tegra 3 chip, so it’s only obvious that we would start seeing new offerings featuring the new chips from Qualcomm, right? With that said, the newest superphone is here: the Pantech Vega R3 — a Snapdragon S4 powered handset. The device will be featuring a dual core APQ8064 1.5GHz chip, 2GB of RAM, a massive 13 mega pixel camera, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,600mAh battery. These features are nothing to really get excited about, though, I would argue that the 13 mega pixel camera is something to get excited about. Another thing that looks pretty neat is the fact that this upcoming device will be featuring a 5.3 inch display dubbed the “Natural IPS Pro LCD,” which aims to make the 1280 x 720 resolution really stand out compared to the rest of the competition. I guess you could almost call it the Retina display of Android. Almost. As you would probably expect, the handset is loaded up with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a Jelly Bean upgrade not very far out after the handsets upcoming official release.
This device has just been announced, so there hasn’t been any word of availability yet. There are expectations that the device will begin selling tomorrow in Korea, but that could just be pre-orders. Again, that’s all rumors, there’s no official news about it as of yet. There aren’t any rumors regarding other markets yet, hopefully we’ll see this monster of a device here in the United States soon though.
