Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus and Galaxy Premier GT-I9260 specs leaked

Samsung is world’s largest mobile phone maker, which means it has to keep launching new models in order to satisfy people’s needs and continue being the market leader. Most of the mobile phone manufacturers are going through a financial nightmare. Major company like HTC has experienced a significant profit drop of 57.8% as compared to last quarter, and it seems like One series devices definitely aren’t helping the company’s current financial situation. Samsung’s on the other hand returned profits figures of as high as $5.9 billion, and this figure is largely attributed to its flagship device for 2012, the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Samsung’s mobile business has been returning handsome profit to the company, which shouldn’t be a surprise when they have so many models in every segment. When Samsung launched Galaxy Note, which is basically a 5.3 inch tablet hybrid device or a phablet, many people criticized the device, however, things turned out to be different after the launch of Galaxy Note, and it turned out to be incredibly successful. Samsung managed to sell more than 10 million units of this phablet, and the successor of this device, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, was launched yesterday and has managed to replicate the attention. Now that Galaxy Note II is released, there are three more Samsung devices which have been making into rumor news category.

The devices in question are Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy S2 Plus and GT-I9260. Folks at SamMobile have been able to lay their hands on spec sheets of Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105 and Samsung Galaxy Premier GT-I9260. Below are the specs:

Samsung Galaxy S2 is a great device. It was announced as a successor of Samsung Galaxy S at Mobile World Congress in February 2011. It has a different appearance when compared to Galaxy S, and the hardware has some significant improvement too. There are three several different variants of Galaxy S II available in different parts of the world, however, the international version as well as on the Sprint and AT&T variant of the phone features a dual-core 1.2 GHz Exynos processor. All the versions are equipped with 1 gig of RAM and 4.3 inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus screen display (480×800 pixels, 218 ppi) and are capable of doing1080p full high definition video recording using the 8 megapixel camera.

In February, there were rumors circulating that Samsung was going to upgrade the processor on its Galaxy S II and call the new device as Galaxy S II Plus. This rumor dates back to time when people didn’t have any idea about what Samsung is going to put inside its now flagship phone, Samsung Galaxy S III. The Galaxy S II was apparently spotted on An3DBenchXL benchmark site in February, where in which it was told that it would be carrying a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos processor. According to the recently acquired specs which have been pasted above, Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus or the GT-I9105 indeed exist and in the works, but seems like the rumors till now have got the specs wrong. If the specs above are to be believed, the phone will be having a MSM7227A-1 Turbo Single 1GHz processor under the 4.3” 480×800 (VWGA) sAMOLED+ display.
As far as the Samsung Galaxy Premier GT-I9260 is concerned, the specs were leaked few days back, and the specs posted above are in line with the previously leaked details, except the processor. The processor that will supposedly power this mobile is the MSM7227A-1 Turbo Single 1GHz, as opposed to the 1.5 Ghz dual core A9 processor that was mentioned in the earlier leak (the article about earlier leak can be read over here).

It should be noted that Samsung Galaxy Premier GT-I9260 is rumored to be next Nexus phone from Google, in collaboration with Samsung. Those who don’t know what a Nexus device is, it’s a series of Android devices that are produced by manufacturers in collaboration with Google. The Nexus phones basically aim at delivering “pure Android” experience, which means the devices ship with ROM that are free of carrier or manufacturer modifications. They also come with unlockable bootloader, which makes it perfect for further development and end-user modification. Nexus phones are considered as “flagship” Android devices. The recently launched Nexus device is the Nexus 7, a 7 inch tablet manufactured by ASUS in association with Google, received overwhelming response.

A 1 GHz processor isn’t exactly something that one would expect a Nexus device to have, so we will take this leak with a grain of salt. We have a feeling that the leaked information has something missing as Galaxy S III has a quad core processor and a better screen. On the other hand, there are also rumors which state that Google will be coming with as many as 5 new Nexus devices this fall, and may be the search engine giant is planning to launch GT-I9260 as a midrange Nexus device while higher end Nexus phone could be in the works by other manufacturers.

Specs of Galaxy S3 Mini are still a no-show, but it is rumored that Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini will be featuring a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, which effectively downsizes Samsung’s 2012 flagship phone’s screen by .8 inches, as well as a 5-megapixel camera and a dual-core processor powering the unit.

Samsung is surely working towards expanding their Android market share while also concentrating on Windows Phone 8 at the same time. It is said that Galaxy S3 Mini will be armed with functionality that will be comparable to iPhone 4S, with a 5 megapixel camera, dual-core processor and 4.0” Super AMOLED screen with WVGA resolution, but for $500 less. Seems like Samsung is fighting back its defeat in the recent patent war with Apple by launching new devices that will threaten the iPhone, however, Apple has a strong fan base which will buy almost anything that Apple comes up with. The specs mentioned earlier in the article are rumored and are not meant to be taken seriously. Galaxy S III Mini and Galaxy S II Plus are said to be planned for end 2012.
