Samsung Galaxy Note X Mockup Specifications Released

After months of media speculation about the specifications and design of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the device is finally on its way to markets everywhere.

Concept Phones, however, is well ahead of the game. The blog, which collects information about mockup designs, published the specifications of a future Samsung Galaxy Note X phablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note X mockup, which is credited to Erica Yusim, has similarities with the design of the recently-released phablet. It follows, however, Samsung’s lead in increasing the size of the original Galaxy Note’s display from 5.3 inches to 5.5 inches on the Galaxy Note 2. Yusim’s concept design takes the measurement one step further. The Super AMOLED Plus display of the Samsung Galaxy Note X measures 6.3 inches diagonally and has a Full High Definition resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. By comparison, the recently-unveiled Galaxy Note 2 has a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.

For its size, the concept device has a measurement of 161.9 x 84.9 x 8.9 mm and tips the scale at 220 grams. Inside, it is powered by a 2.0GHz quad core Cortex-A15 processor and 3GB of RAM. There are several options as to its storage capacity: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. It will also have Android 5.0 Jelly Bean as its operating system. As usual, two cameras are onboard. Its main camera has a 16-megapixel sensor, LED Flash, Autofocus, and BSI whereas its front camera has a 3-megapixel sensor, Best Photo, Best Faces, Low-Light Shot, and BSI features. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 3.0, mHL, A-GPS , and NFC. It gets its power from a 4,000mAh battery.

The concept phone has several implications. First, it takes into account what seems to be a trend of making handset displays larger, such as what Samsung did on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and what Apple did on the iPhone 5. Furthermore, its size is close to the common Android tablet size of 7 inches. If Samsung does make a larger successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the company should carefully establish the reasons why consumers should choose a device with such measurements over a regular-sized tablet.

Note II was fine, but this is, finally, too large. In effect the size change from Note 1 to Note II was miniscule, but this is not.

Otherwise, not bad. I’d buy it, as I will the Note II.
