It has already been expected that Nokia will release a pair of Windows Phone 8 later this year. Reports were actually correct as the Finnish phone manufacturer announced on Wednesday, September 5th, Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820.
Nokia Lumia 820 is basically the cheaper version of 920 with some features stripped off, but if compared with the previous model, Lumia 800, the new one will definitely emerge well-appreciated. Aside from the fact that it is way bigger than the previous model with 4.3 inches display, it also features the ever-popular AMOLED technology. But one of the features 920 has that cannot be found in this phone is the PureMotion HD+.
Basically, it will be brought to life by the same processor that powers up Nokia’s WP8 flagship and it also comes with 1GB RAM. So as far as processing power is concerned, both devices are equal. One of the most interesting things the manufacturer said about this new model, however, is that it is 30% more power-efficient than “competing quad-core designs.” If this is true, its 1650mAh battery may still be able to reach up to 9 hours of straight talk time.
Nokia Lumia 820 misses the PureView camera technology and while it could be one of the features that tech enthusiasts might be looking for in a device like this, I believe it’s good for this smartphone not to have it. Many people, including myself, have been so excited with reports that Nokia will be porting its PureView technology to its Windows Phone 8 models only to be disappointed knowing Lumia 920 comes with 8 megapixels sensor.
Nonetheless, Nokia Lumia 820 will be competitive enough in the market it is trying to take a lead. But if things will not work the way Nokia plans to be, and if these two Lumias fail to reach their sales quota, the entire company is in trouble. So, basically, the manufacturer has put everything in these smartphones.
