HTC Windows Phone 8X is said to be the new name for the device previously known on tech blogs as the HTC Accord. This information comes from a member of the XDA Developers forum called Football4PDA. It may be recalled that it was the same user who showed photos of the HTC Accord, and had been responsible for posting accurate information before.
Football4PDA had purportedly gotten hold of the Quick Guide for the 8X phone as well as a diagram for the same device. The diagram shows that the HTC Windows Phone 8X sports a front-facing camera, a start button, search button, 3.5 mm headset jack, proximity sensor, notification LED, power button, volume controls on its side, a USB connector. Blackberry users who are switching to this device will also find a Notification LED on the 8X.
Unfortunately, that is all the information divulged by the leak, so there is no confirmation for the earlier list of specifications which were believed to be on the handset. Among these alleged specifications are a Qualcomm’s MSM8960 S4 dual-core chip running at 1.5 GHz, a storage capacity of 8GB of 16GB, a microSD card slot for expansion. It is also believed that the device will have a main camera with an 8-megapixel sensor as well as the capability for Near Field Communication. An earlier leak also showed a press image for the HTC Accord.
If the rumors are correct, the HTC Windows Phone 8X will be the first Windows Phone 8-based device that HTC will be releasing. Previously, it had been reported that HTC is slated to release three new handsets based on Windows Phone 8. Said devices have the codenames Rio, Zenith, and Accord. It may be recalled that the HTC Accord name first popped up in a roadmap that was leaked several months earlier.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X is rumored to be arriving by the end of this month.
