What comes next after HTC’s new Windows Phone 8X? It’s obviously the 8S! Just don’t get yourself confused by following the letters of the alphabet. It doesn’t really work that way and all that you need to know is that it is going to be one of today’s trendiest looking handsets. As a matter of fact, the phone is ready to flaunt its four eye-catching designs and you can choose whether you want to get the one on Domino, Atlantic Blue, High-Rise Gray or Fiesta Red. For sure, the phone’s ‘playful yet classy look’ will be enough to catch your interest but there’s more to the Windows Phone 8S that will make you feel surprised.
First of all, the Windows Phone 8S will be sold for a cheaper price. Clove, a popular mobile e-retailer in the UK, even posted that it will be selling the SIM-free and unlocked version of the said smartphone for £224.99 (inclusive of VAT) which is roughly equivalent to $365 dollars. Unfortunately, the first stock won’t be made available until early November.
Yes, it’s going to take a while before HTC will be releasing the 8S in the market. Even so, it has already unveiled that the smartphone will have a 4.0-inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen with a full screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The pixel density will be set at 233 ppi and it will have a Corning Gorilla Glass protection to keep its delicate screen safe from dusts, scrapes and scratches. Furthermore, the smartphone will be equipped with Beats Audio enhancement and it will be a perfect device for those who can’t live without listening to their favorite music tracks.
Aside from the aforementioned features, the Microsoft Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone will be running on a reliable 1GHz dual-core Krait Snapdragon S4 processor. It will also sport its high performance battery, 4GB of internal storage, 32GB of external micro SD storage, 512MB of built-in memory and up to 7GB of free SkyDrive Storage. With that, you’ll definitely be able to store a lot of songs, photos, eBooks, etc. and as far as performance is concerned, you’ll be getting the best this device can offer.
Speaking of photos, the 8S will be equipped with a 5MP camera with auto focus and LED flash. It supports 720p video recording and you can even geo-tag your photos by taking advantage of the phone’s built-in GPS with GLONASS. Network and data connectivity will also be provided via 3G and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. Basically, the side features are great but it could have been better if HTC gave this device at least 8MP camera.
Windows Phone 8S availability is still unknown yet but sources close to the production line said there is a greater possibility the Taiwan-based manufacturer will start shipping in early November. Also, the real retail price of this device hasn’t been confirmed, although based on specs it will definitely be a mid-range smartphone. So, it would be offered between $300 and $375 depending on the regions it will be sold. Carrier prices will also vary.
