If you’re an Android fan, you must have surely heard of ZTE Blade. ZTE Blade is basically a phone manufactured by China’s ZTE Corporation for the Android platform that is extremely popular and is sold under different brand names in different countries. It is available in customized versions with different cameras and touchscreen displays.
The original ZTE Blade makes use of not so powerful Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz and has 512 MB RAM, but at the time of launch, the specs were considered just fine. After the success of ZTE Blade, the company announced a successor called ZTE Blade II in February 2012. The successor of ZTE Blade houses exactly the same 3.5 inches 480 x 800 pixels display, but has seen upgrade in the form of 1 GHz processor and 5 megapixel camera as opposed to 600 MHz processor and 3.5 megapixel camera. Apart from this, it has all the features that an average Android device has, and the phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, which is like cherry on the top.
ZTE Blade II has been welcomed very well, and the company is already ready with another successor, dubbed as ZTE Blade III. The Blade III has not been announced or revealed by ZTE yet, however, one Finnish retailer, Verkkokauppa.com, who might not have understood the memo regarding secrecy, has revealed promotional images of the phone. Along with the images, the retailer has also published a full spec sheet. The images show a white design and the device looks strikingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
According to the leaked specs, the device will be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chip with 512MB of RAM. Like its predecessor, the 3rd version will also sport a 3.5 inch WVGA TFT display, and a 5MP camera will do its job in the photography department.
The design is just fine, and there’s nothing revolutionary about it. This device will obviously come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. The specs makes it a mid range phone and will cost our European friends €199 a pop. Taking a look at specs sheet, the phone definitely doesn’t seem worth more than its €199 asking price and it looks like it is a redesigned Blade II.
The phone isn’t expected to actually ship over the next few weeks. Blade III doesn’t seem to be that far from release, so we hope to see this device at the IFA show in Berlin next week.

The particular page at Verkkokauppa.com that sells the ZTE Blade III for €199.90 is still up. On the page, the retailer shows off three pics and the specs appear to be final. Keeping the retailer’s size in mind, they don’t like the ones who would create a product page based on rumors, and hence it would be reasonable to conclude that this leak is indeed legit. According to the retailer, the device should be shipping in 2 to 4 weeks of time. What are your thoughts on ZTE Blade III? Would you buy this device? Connect with us using the comment form below.
