Xiaomi Phone 2 Finally Announced

The Chinese company, Xiaomi that is known for their popular ROM called MIUI (hit the ROM link at the end of the article) has just officially announced their new phone. This phone is a beast and it’s very impressive. Every bit as impressive as we thought it was going to be when some rumors on the specs had unleashed into the internet. Turns out that some the hardware rumors were true! The hardware that the Xiaomi Phone 2 really stand out from other phones when it comes to the world of smartphones or better known as “superphones.” With how much awesome hardware this phone packs, I was surprised that they were able to maintain a price price point of just $310 USD. Crazy, isn’t it?

You’ll be blown away by the specs, trust me. Here’s the full list:

  • 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 CPU (Adreno 320 GPU, 28nm)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB memory
  • Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • 4.3″ 720p IPS display
  • 2,000mAh battery
  • 8MP rear camera, 2MP front
  • 10.2mm thick
  • $310 USD
  • Launching in China in October

The company has claimed some really impressive benchmark results and with the quad core S4 Snapdragon processor, I feel obligated to believe them as the dual core was already a beast of a processor. It only makes sense as the Quad Core has twice the RAM and really kicks things up a notch. The Chinese company is using a 2,000mAh battery to power the quad core chip, to the tune of 10.22mm of the devices thickness.

Though they plan on launching the phone in China during the month of October, we’re not sure as to whether they plan on making this a U.S release. To an extent, a lot of people have been really intrigued by the phone stateside and I think it would be a fantastic move financially. If they can keep the $310 price, this would be a perfect device for a off-contract phone or even a replacement.

On the other hand, Xiaomi might not be willing to do that with this one, but whatever ends up happening with the device, we’ll make sure to keep you updated as their are quite a few people interesting in this device. I bet even after seeing the price, someone has to be drooling all over their keyboard right now.

Currently, the phone is expected to hit Chinese retailers sometime in October for $1,999 yuan which again, equals out to $310 USD.
