The competition for the thinnest smartphone has been going on for some time, with devices claiming to be the thinnest, only to be dethroned a short while later by a slimmer device.
This time, a device called the Oppo Find5 X909 declares not that it is the thinnest smartphone per se among all devices currently available, but that the thinnest one that runs on a quad-core processor.
Some may recall that the same Chinese company also claimed a few months that it has the world’s thinnest smartphone which bears the name Oppo Finder.
The Oppo Find5 X909, however, has different specifications when compared with the Oppo Finder. This device boasts of a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 CPU running alongside 2GB of RAM. Its display measures 4.5 inches diagonally and have HD capability. Moreover, it is said to have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, 16 or 32 GB of internal storage. Two cameras will be present, including a 12 MP main camera and a 2 MP web camera. A 2,500 mAh battery is expected to provide the power for the smartphone. All in all, its specifications appear to be quite impressive.
IT168.com, however, points out that the device has not gotten an official confirmation from Oppo. Furthermore, devices like these often do not get released outside of the region. There are exceptions, though, such as the Xiaomi Mi2 which is said to be coming to Europe next year.
As for the Oppo Find5 X909, its pricing and availability still remain to be known. It is speculated that consumers might have to wait for a couple of months since the device is said to have Android Jelly Bean already. For the specifications that the Oppo Find5 X909 is said to have, however, a little waiting might not be so difficult.
