LG Eclipse to Come to Sprint; Currently at FCC

The LG EclipseLS970 smartphone may still be a rumor – especially when it comes to the actual specifications, but it is a matter of public record now that it will be available on Sprint.  The phone appeared on the FCC’s site yesterday and we can now tell that the phone will certainly support CDMA, EVDO and LTE network types on Sprint.  These are of course beside the standard network and connectivity features including dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, LTE radio and USB 2.0.

So far, the rumored specs of the LG Eclipse are a quad-core Qualcomm S4 Krait processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, companion Adreno 320 GPU and a 8MP rear camera with a 1080p HD video recording capability.  All these are, of course, still rumors as we have not yet come across more detailed reliable specs for the smartphone.  If these rumored specs are true, then this could grow to become a more superior smartphone than the Nexus Galaxy and the Samsung Galaxy s3.  Just picture a smartphone with all the features of an S3 but with twice the processing power and a physical keyboard!

The international version of Eclipse features a full Slide-Out QWERTY Keyboard, Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, 512MB RAM and a 3.5 inch capacitive 320 X 480 screen.  These are features of a low end smartphone released a long time ago and they can only be better for the new Eclipse that is coming to Sprint.

If the rumor is anything to go by, this Android smartphone will also come with Android Jelly Bean in the last quarter of this year.  We really hope that LG will ‘WOW’ us this time with an unbeatable smartphone with everything every geek is yearning for in a phone.

What do you think?  Could LG be working on a smartphone that will dethrone the S3 and galaxy nexus?  If the rumored specs turn out to be true, will you for the phone?
