Screen size of smartphones are increasing these days, and the next gen iPhone is expected to ship with a 4 inch screen, but nothing beats watching a movie or browsing internet on a big screen. I’ve seen people browsing internet on a 32” TV by hooking up their laptop with TV, but of course TVs aren’t convenient if you want to carry around a big screen. This is where GeChic shows up, and seems like they have a solution for this.
GeChic will soon start selling something called OnLap 2501M, a 15.6-inch monitor for your phone. Yes, you read it right. GeChic’s OnLap 2501M is basically a LED display with a resolution of 1366×768 and sports a pair of speakers and a 9,600mAh battery. The monitor is designed keeping phones in mind. It allows the user to connect their devices using various cables including MHL, VGA and HDMI and users should be able to hook up their iPhones or Android devices with it easily. The display will reproduce anything that is shown on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, but just that it will be bigger.
This isn’t the first time GeChic is coming up with an auxiliary monitor. GeChic has been in this business for a long time now, and have been fairly successful. Going mobile means different things for different users. Previously, GeChic had launched On-Lap 1301 Portable Monitor. On-Lap 1301 is essentially a USB powered monitor for laptops. Yes, it runs on standard USB power at 500mA (at 30% brightness). On-Lap 1301 is light enough to be considered mobile, and is designed to be mounted on the back of a laptop for which it makes use of suction mounts. This 335 x 227 x 13.8mm, 865g/1.9lbs auxiliary screen is a 13.3″ TFT LCD monitor with a resolution of 1366×768. It is very portable and requires the user to connect only two cables to the laptop, 1xUSB (power) and 1xVGA or 1xHDMI for video signal. Being USB powered just adds up to its portability factor. Installation is easy as it’s a normal monitor from computer point of view, and at a price point of $200, it gives great value for money.
OnLap 2501M looks like successor of On-Lap 1301 Portable Monitor and will be obviously better than the predecessor and it is bigger too. Everybody loves to have more screen real estate. I use my tablet for watching TV shows, because it is just convenient, but if I had GeChic, I could be watching my favorite shows on my phone via GeChic instead, and I expect it to deliver a more comfortable experience. You can use OnLap 2501M to play games, read books or just use as a digital photo frame, the possibilities are endless. This device is better than a normal monitor because of the portability factor. As mentioned above, it has an inbuilt battery, so you don’t have to deal with extension cords or restrict yourself to space near the mains. Having an inbuilt battery on OnLap 2501M makes it a useful accessory. OnLap 2501M has input options including VGA and HDMI, which makes it a perfect companion not only for phones, but for laptops too.
There’s no word on price tag of OnLap 2501M, but taking On-Lap 1301 Portable Monitor’s $200 price tag in mind, we anticipate the successor to carry a price tag in the neighborhood of $200.
