The on going battle between Apple and Samsung finally comes to a halt with Apple emerging as the victor. It has been several months that this on going battle has been taking place between the two most powerful smartphones and tablets companies in the world.
The jury showed Samsung the red signal taking full side with Apple and forcing Samsung to pay up a whopping amount of about $1 billion. According to Apple Samsung had copied the designs of its iPhones and iPads in the galaxy S3 and the galaxy tabs. Apple said that Samsung copied the rounded corners on its devices as well as the user interface to zoom in the gadgets. The rubber band feature offered in Apple’s products have also been copied by Samsung says Apple.
Samsung isn’t the first company Apple has taken to the courts, in the past big companies like Motorola and HTC have also been driven to court by Apple. Critics have different views about this verdict and many see this as an attempt to attack Google directly by Apple.
According to a statement by Apple, “The lawsuits between Apple and Samsung were much more than patents or money. They were about values…”
While Apple viewed this battle as solely the protection of their rights and values, Samsung had another thing in mind. According to Samsung, “Today’s verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation and potentially higher prices.”
While it is true that the immediate consequences of such heavy charged lawsuits and court proceedings will result in a loss for the consumer, but according to Apple innovation comes with a price.
This on going battle has not yet come to its final conclusion as yet as there is a further proceeding to be held in 2014 between these two companies. However, given the current circumstances it seems not much is on Samsung’s side with all those cases Samsung itself did on Apple have been proved wrong and in favor of Apple. Where is Samsung really heading now?
There is no doubt that apart from the customers, the shareholders and investors of both companies have faced huge financial crisis during this trial and both sides have lost and gained but in the end Apple emerged victorious.
With Apple getting more than 1 billion dollars from Samsung from the verdict, the prices of the company’s shares has also risen considerably with Apples shares being the most popular shares in the market.
It is indeed a fact that Apple has emerged victorious and as a hero from this battle but we think how long is this really going to last? Has Apple really made the right decision with protecting its right or according to a few critics they’re just being drama queens about it. Whatever the reason maybe cheers to Apple for succeeding however success isn’t forever and with Apple taking so many companies to court we say watch out!
