Acer Iconia Tab A110 Comes with Android Jelly Bean

Some Acer Iconia Tab A110 screenshots that surfaced on a UK retailer’s site, Ebuyer, are the clearest hint that the tablet may be launching pre-installed with Google’s latest version of Android Jelly Bean.  It had been indicated earlier that the tablet would be launching with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – something that Acer also confirmed but images on the website show that the tablet may come with Jelly Bean after all.

If this is the case, this will be the first non-Google made tablet to launch with pre-installed Jelly Bean and only the second after Nexus 7.  Sources at engadget claim that the 7 inch tablet, which is launching at a price of £179 ($280) in the UK market for the 8GB version, looks a lot like Nexus 7 and may just be the direct competitor of Google’s tablet even in the US market.  The one major disadvantage this tablet has against the Nexus 7 tablet besides its late entry into the market is the low screen resolution of 1024 x 600 compared to Nexus’ 1280 X 800.  The 8GB version of the tablet is priced £20 less than Nexus 7 8GB which retails at $199 in the UK.  We cannot tell though how much it may cost when it is launched in the US market.

When it comes to features, the Iconia A110 tab has a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion and HDMI output which the Nexus 7 does not have.  The big question however is, will users be willing to part with a few more dollars (or quid) for the USB slot, camera and the HDMI output?  I think this depends on what one wants to use the tablet for, but it may not be worth it for most users.

If you are considering getting the Acer Iconia Tab A110 when it is available in the US, here is an overview of the rumored features:

Processor: NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU

Memory: 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage (MicroSD slot for memory expansion)

Display: 7 inch 1024×600 screen

Operating System: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The tablet will have both front and rear cameras but the resolutions or any other details were not on ebuyer’s website.  Come September or October when the tablet is launched in the US market, it will be a war between Iconia A110 and Nexus 7.  Who will win?
