Sony makes the best Android phones according to red dot awards

Android phones come in different sizes, shapes and feature sets. Google Nexus 7 was unveiled recently, which is a sleek 7-inch tablet device. There are other phones such as Samsung’s flagship device for 2012, the Galaxy S3, the HTC One X, Moto RAZR line up and many more. There are boat load of Android phones out there that it’s very tough for a user to choose one.

So which are the best looking Android devices out there? If we go by the red dot awards, it’s Sony which has scored a whopping total of four red dot awards. Three of those awards go for the two devices from Xperia lineup:

  • Xperia Ion and Xperia Active receive the award on the basis of high quality & stylish minimalism
  • Smart Wireless Headset pro and SmartDock for Xperia ion gain the award on the basis of discreet design & impressive functionality
  • Xperia ray receives the award for appearance and usability

Both Xperia ion and Xperia Active are great phones. The Sony Xperia Ion give lots of bang for the buck. The phone packs in a 4.6″ 720p display, LTE 4G and a 12MP camera module between a sleek glass front and curved metal back. It also houses an HDMI out. On the other hand, Sony Ericsson Xperia Active is one of those rugged phones which are submersible. The Active equips 3-inch capacitive Bravia Engine touchscreen at 320 x 480 resolution, a 5MP camera module coupled with LED flash, which allows you to capture videos at 720p resolution.

The awards were presented to manufacturers at a special gathering in Germany which was held on July 2. The entries were evaluated with key criterion like ergonomic, degree of innovation, durability and ecological soundness. What’s worth noting is that red dot award competition received well over 14,000 entries from 70 countries, which makes competition really interesting.
