Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 On Sale at Costco

The Samsung Galaxy Tab  2 7.0 and 10.1 were spotted over the weekend at Costco selling for less than retail price, at $239.99 and $379.99, respectively.  The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 currently sells for [easyazon-link asin=”B007P4VOWC” locale=”us”]$247.43 on Amazon[/easyazon-link] and [easyazon-link asin=”B007M50PTM” locale=”us”]$398 for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1[/easyazon-link].

At $239, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 matches up well against its 7″ tablet competitors.  It is priced at only $40 more than the Kindle Fire and Nook, but has the microSD slot that could bump its storage capacity up to 32GB and runs on the popular Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.  In addition, there are Android apps for these Samsung tablets that can essentially mimic the functions of the Kindle Fire or Nook to access the eBooks.

The 10.1 version has recently been in the news due to the public legal battle between Apple and Samsung over patent rights.  U.K. courts ruled in favor of Samsung earlier this week.  The court essentially ruled that Samsung did not infringe on Apple’s patents simply because the Tab 2 design was “not as cool” as Apple’s signature sleek design.  I can’t help but think of the unintended consequences of Apple’s failed lawsuit to ban Samsung’s tablet, but instead, it has provided more news coverage for the Samsung product than Samsung’s own promotional campaign.
