Pictures and Details of Verizon’s Pantech Star Q 4G LTE Slider Phone Leaked

The summer break is almost over and Verizon is eyeing the new school year with a momentous launch of a new slider phone – the Pantech Star Q.  Leaked pictures and details show that the main attraction that Verizon looks to capitalize on in this Android smartphone is the 5 row QWERTY keyboard, a feature that text-obsessed students and those who want a device to carry out word processing on the road will find invaluable.

The Slide out QWERTY keyboard is also a powerful gadget, equipped with a dual core Snapdragon S$ processor – the same chip that most other powerful Android smartphones such as Samsung’s S3 come with.  The phone will also have 4G LTE capability, something that school goers will capitalize on to view and download web content, particularly multimedia.  The phone has a smaller screen compared to most other high end Android smartphones mainly because of the physical keyboard – a 4-inch 800 X 480 resolution screen.

Verizon has not announced when the phone will be launched yet, or the price, but what we know is that it may be a lowly priced gadget available for as little as $99 on contract.  It is unlikely that the Pantech will attract school goers for its performance or the slide out keyboard, but the price may be what will pull the crowds.

Core Features of the Pantech Q 4G LTE

Operating System: Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich

Processor: Dual Core Snapdragon S4 with a speed of 1.5GHz

Cameras: 3 megapixel rear camera and a front facing camera (unknown resolution)

Connectivity: 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi

Display: 4 Inch 800 X 480 pixels resolution touch-screen

Since the new school year is just around the corner, it is likely that the phone announcement will be soon.  There have not been many high performance Android smartphones with a physical keyboard released of late, Verizon may just be in time to steal the hearts of those who prefer a physical keyboard over an on-screen one.  We will keep you posted on any developments regarding Verizons’ Pantech Q 4G LTE phone.
