AT&T Galaxy Note Getting the ICS Update Today

att_galaxy_note

The Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&T is currently stuck on Gingerbread while other variants of the smartphone have already tasted Ice Cream Sandwich. But users will be pleased to hear that the long overdue update is finally here. AT&T is sending out the update starting from today, with some exclusive touches for the Galaxy Note like the much acclaimed Premium Suite which brings the updated version of S Note and S Memo as well as the new My Story app. All these features make use of the S Pen stylus bundled with the Galaxy Note. Rest of the typical Ice Cream Sandwich features like Face Unlock, Android Beam etc will be on board too.

The Galaxy Note on AT&T arrived back in January and has been running on Gingerbread ever since. The international versions of the Galaxy Note were updated back in May. The 5.3-inch smartphone/tablet has found a good market in the States, and it is a huge relief that the update is finally live. Do not panic if the update doesn’t hit your device immediately as it usually takes a few days to be available on a larger scale. The update requires you to have the Samsung Kies app on your desktop, so make sure you have that covered. The Note update apart from bringing the usual goodies of ICS and Premium Suite, will also improve the overall experience, it is believed.

The AT&T Galaxy S II is receiving ICS love too. According to a post on XDA Forums, the Android Gingerbread based smartphone is being updated with ICS. The Galaxy S II Skyrocket was first revealed in November last year and it’s good to see the device get the update. As with the Galaxy Note, you have to open the Kies app on your PC and check for an update.

Unsurprisingly, people have already started to think about the Jelly Bean update which isn’t even final yet. Having seen the pace at which manufacturers/carriers are rolling out the ICS update, it would take another few months at least to even begin thinking about Jelly Bean.

Did you receive the update(s) yet? Let us know how it went in the comments box below.
