VTech Expanded its Child-Targeted Lineup with 2 Pocket-Friendly Devices

VTech has expanded its lineup of child-friendly devices with the [easyazon-link asin=”B00385QUTO” locale=”us”]MobiGo[/easyazon-link] 2 and InnoTab 2. These mobile devices are not based on Android OS. However, they offer cheaper prices than many Android-based devices targeted at children.

The company, which has a thirty-year background in creating educational toys, also provides users of these gadgets access to its own app library called Learning Lodge Navigator. Learning Lodge Navigator has a collection of over 80 apps in various areas such as vocabulary, spelling, reading, mathematics, logic, and drawing.

The Mobi Go 2 is a handheld device best for children with ages 3 to 8. Its form factor comes with a QWERTY keyboard that allows children to type characters. It also comes with a motion sensor, a microphone, and a touchscreen display that all collaborate in helping children learn skills.

The Mobi Go 2 gives innovative input methods for games. For instance, one app allows children to blow air to the microphone for them to change the position of objects onscreen. Another lets children talk into the microphone to set off an action. The handheld also comes with several pre-loaded games. Users can furthermore enjoy the device in viewing photos, reading ebooks, or as a digital coloring book and art canvas.

Meanwhile, the InnoTab 2 has a 5-inch touchscreen suited for children from 3 to 9 years old. The device is packed with various multimedia features including a photo viewer, MP3 player, video player, and an ebook reader. A microphone, a rotatable camera and a tilt sensor add creative dimensions to the device.

Like the Mobi Go 2, the InnoTab 2 is pre-loaded with applications such as an art studio app, a notes app, a calendar, and a calculator. There is also a game that takes advantage of the tilt sensor and another one based on augemted reality. More content can be downloaded from Learning Lodge Navigator, as well. The content on the Inno Tab is stored on a 2 GB built-in memory, which may be expanded through an integrated SD card reader for up to 32 GB.

The Mobi Go 2 retails for $59.99 while the InnoTab 2 is priced at $79.99. The former will be available this summer while the latter will hit stores during the holiday season.
