Verizon to Present HTC DROID Incredible 4G Soon

A few weeks ago, it was announced that the HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE Android phone was going to be available soon from the Verizon network. Neither HTC nor Verizon, however, has specified the exact date, but some clues online might hint at a launch right this week.

First, the HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE already made an appearance on the Verizon TestMan site. When this happens, it usually indicates that the product will be released soon, judging from previous occasions. The price of the DROID Incredible appears to be $299 with a contract, although it is dubious whether this is the real price of the item. It was also recently confirmed that the phone will be sold with a mail-in- rebate or MIR of $50.

The HTC DROID Incredible 4G LTE is touted as a more affordable version of the HTC One Series, which looks similar to the DROID Incredible. It features a super LCD qHD spanning four inches, with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. A 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 1 GB of RAM are onboard. Its operating system is Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich platform which is coupled with an HTC Sense 4.0 graphical user interface. For video chat, there is an 8 MP camera with various features including auto focus, flash and as low as f/2.2 aperture.

Unlike the HTC One, however, or even the Sprint EVO 4G LTE and AT&T One X, this phone does not sport an ImageSense chip. An advantage it has, though, is its 1,700 mAh lithium ion removable battery and support for a 32 GB micro SD card which the previously mentioned phones do not posses. It will also be able to connect to Verizon’s 4G Wireless Network across the United States. Users can share the 4G LTE connection to other users through its Mobile Hotspot Feature.

  1. My thoughts exactly. I think the big screens became popular because they were touted by the carriers as better. (isn’t bigger always better?) And because the bigger screens generally came on a better spec’d phone. But like you mentioned, I think a lot of people will go for great specs in a 4″ phone.
And yeah, I always wonder if these people that walk around with a slab to their ear have any idea how goofy it looks…

  2. 4 inches is perfect, and I’ll bet there are a whole bunch of folks on Verizon and other carriers that want a 4″ android device. The dinc2 had the right size screen but no 4g. This phone will be the perfect mix of specs and size for this year – you can expect other manufacturers (including Apple) to follow HTC’s lead away from the “phablet” direction that the Galaxy Note and other 4.7″ plus devices have had the industry going in. Those devices are great for users who have a need, but I don’t think most people fit in that category – at least not yet, anyway. 4″ is the perfect size to see and touch everything on the screen while holding it in one hand. 4.3″ and 4.5″ is stretching it, and 4.7″ and over becomes a two-handed device.

  3. yeah, yeah..that’s what she said…or didn’t…lol…Seriously who here is looking forward to picking up the DI4GLTE because of the 4 inch screen? The Galaxy S3 is coming out first and looks like a great phone but it’s way too big for me. I currently have the original DroidX and when I have it in my pocket and go to sit down it’s uncomfortable. Honestly, are we buying phones for tablets? Is it me or does it look rather odd seeing people with mini tablets held to their faces?

  4. How is it being touted as a more affordable version of the one series when the rumor is 299 as stated by, well, you. It cant be touted as more affordable version when all of the one phones will be at least 100 dollars cheaper then the price you quote with being rumored.

  5. Same here, Lara. Can’t wait till it gets here! Scared it ain’t gonna get here before the shared data and I’ll get screwed out of my unlimited. The s3 is a gorgeous phone but I don’t see how it and the dinc 4g can even appeal to the same group of people. The dinc is for people like me that prefer a smaller screen size. Anything much over 4″ and I find it unhandy to reach the upper left corner plus carrying it around is a pain. Personal opinion…

  6. I have also been waiting for the incredible 4g. It sucks that the S3 has news first. But 4.8″ screen is too huge for me. I have a tablet and don’t need the phone to be inching closer to tablet size. I am pretty sure the HTC’s camera will be better too. Also is the battery exchangeable for extended battery? if not, that also will not be as good and is a no go for me. Only the RAZR Max can get away without a removable battery.

  7. Wow…. this is news?
    I see no release date.
    No facts.
Testman Site info is like 2 days old.

AND Besides, the SGS3 will be available for preorder soon, so this poor DINC4G is taking a backseat.

I’m sure it’ll quietly be released and not see many updates.

  8. Now that there is a firm date (at least for pre-order) for the Samsung Galaxy S3, I’m not even going to consider the Incredible 4G. I was ready to three weeks ago but no way now. I feel bad for HTC, I think they have been hosed by feds and/or carriers with several phones now. The Galaxy news is going to nuke any chance the Incredible 3 had.

  9. If it was caught on testman, I wonder what that means in terms of when it will then go on the website. I would think only a few days, no? I could be totally wrong. Perhaps after June 5th (tom) when double data deal goes away?

  10. This is news? Come on write something that we already don’t know. What new facts supports it will launch this week?

  11. Oh how I hope this is true. I have been waiting for this phone for months. It was suppose to be out already!!
