Recently, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus had gotten the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update. Now, it is time for Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro to get it too. Users will be able to download the FTF using the Flash Tool.
The smartphone was released in October 2011 and came with Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread) out of the box. Meanwhile, it is uncertain whether other handsets from Sony Ericsson released in the same year such as the Xperia Mini, Xperia Active, Xperia Mini Pro, and Live With Walkman will also receive the same update.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro sports a 3.75-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The screen is protected by a scratch-resistant glass. It also has Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine and Timescape UI. Meanwhile, its body, measuring 120 x 57 x 13.5 mm has a QWERTY keyboard.
The device has a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, 1 GHz Scorpion CPU, and Adreno 205 GPU. An 8 GB memory card is included, but users may opt to have as much as 32 GB in its card slot. Its internal memory, however, is already 1 GB, 230 MB of which are available to the user. It also comes with 512 MB of RAM. It is also equipped with Accelerometer and proximity sensors, a Stereo FM radio with RDS radio, and IM, SMS, MMS, and email messaging capabilities, showing them in threaded view. The handset’s browser supports HTML and Adobe Flash. It is as well carries support for GPS and Java.
It has different data connectivity capabilities, including GPRS, EDGE, 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, 5.8 Mbps HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB. It has vibration capability and plays MP3 ringtones. It also comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack and a loudspeaker.
The Ice Cream Sandwich treatment for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro should enhance its features as well as solve some bugs present in Android Gingerbread.
