Samsung Epic 4G Touch’s Price Slashed at $99.99

Sprint is reducing the price of the high-end Samsung Epic 4G Touch to only $99.99 or around €80 with a two-year contract. This offering becomes available starting June 21st, which coincides with the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III on the carrier. The move by the carrier is consistent among the retailers. Amazon is actually holding a [easyazon-link asin=”B005LHN47S” locale=”us”]sale for the Samsung Epic 4G Touch[/easyazon-link] as well with a price of $0.01 on a two year contract.

The Samsung Epic 4G Touch which is also otherwise known as Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, was the Korean company’s flagship device last year. This version, released in September 2011, was the very first Samsung Galaxy S II to become available in the US. It also made records as Sprint’s top-selling phone.

During that period, the handset had a price of $499.99 outright. Users could opt for a two-year contract for $149.99, as well, which came with a mail-in rebate of $50. This time around, Sprint will offer the Samsung Epic 4G Touch with support for 4G LTE connectivity. Users, however, can still choose the older model if they wish to do so.

At present, the specifications of the Samsung Epic 4G Touch are still not too shabby. In fact, it can still easily overshadow current mid-range and some high-end devices. The Samsung Epic 4G Touch has a Super AMOLED Plus display with a measurement of 4.52 inches and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Inside it is a 1.2 GHz dual-core Samsung Exnyos C210 processor and a Mali-400MP GPU.

The handset, which comes in Vortex Black, also features a rear camera with an 8 MP sensor, and a front camera with a 2 MP sensor. It supports a long list of connectivity options including Bluetooth, A2DP, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, WiMax, GAVDP, HSP, GPS, among others. It moreover comes with 16 GB of internal memory, which is still expandable up to 32 GB.

Of course, if that is not enough for consumers, they can always get the Samsung Galaxy S III, which is currently up for pre-order. The S III is expected to arrive next week as early as Monday, although it can arrive as late perhaps as Thursday.
