A Chinese website called IT168.com has published what are purported to be images and details of the upcoming XPS 14, and XPS 15 ultrabooks. Dell had already revealed another ultrabook called the XPS 13 from the very same line, but is still currently silent on the XPS 14 and XPS 15.
According to the alleged specifications sheet, the XPS 14 runs on the third-gen Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor alongside 8 GB of RAM. Its GPU is an NVIDIA GT 630M with a 1GB cache that assists its LCD screen. For its part, the display has a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. A 500 GB hard disk drive and a 32 GB solid state disk are also on board for storage. This device has a battery that promises more than 11 hours of usage on a single charge.
The XPS 15, meanwhile, has even better specifications. Like the XPS 14, it has a third-gen Ivy Bridge Core i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. However, its screen, which has a higher resolution of 1920 x 1080 and supports full HD viewing, works with an NVIDIA GT 640M 2GB GPU.
As for storage, the device offers a larger capacity of a 1TB hard disk drive alongside a 256GB solid state disk. An optical drive is also available on this ultrabook. The battery life, as compared with the XPS 14, however, is slightly lower at 8 hours on a single charge, possibly owing to the larger display.
The two ultrabooks both sport backlit keyboards for ease of use in typing. They also carry the complete range of necessary ports such as HDMI out, USB 3.0, as well as DisplayPort. Design-wise, they resemble the XPS 13 since they are part of the same line. They are protected, too, by Corning Gorilla Glass and possess lightweight yet durable aluminum and carbon fiber shells.
If these specifications are authentic, they would definitely be adequate to please the home or office user. The pricing is expected to be around $1,299 for the XPS 14, and around $1,499 for the XPS 15.
